Most "home remedies" actually tend to irritate and further infect the area. Antibiotics do not always work right away, but they sometimes take up to 2 weeks to fully clear the infection. I would return to the doctor and have him/her try a new course of action (get a second opinion from a second doctor). Also, the vagina is surprisingly efficient at clearing infectious materials. It may just need some time to fight off the infection and return to its normal functioning state.
